UCSC Named National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research
The University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) has been recognised as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research by the National Security Agency (NSA). This prestigious title is awarded to fewer than 100 institutions nationwide, making UCSC one of the elite in the field.
UCSC joins an illustrious list of universities with this designation, including the University of West Florida, Illinois Institute of Technology, New York University, University of Texas at Dallas, Johns Hopkins University, Georgia Institute of Technology, New Jersey Institute of Technology, University of California - Berkeley, and University of Central Missouri. The university's sustained record of cybersecurity scholarship over the past five years has contributed significantly to this recognition.
The university's graduate students have consistently published in top venues and written dissertations on security, while faculty have secured competitive federal research funding and provided leadership in the field. Alvaro Cardenas, a professor of computer science and engineering, led the application process for the designation.
