Under the FAME India Program, 350 electric vehicle charging stations have been set up.
The Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) India Scheme, a government-driven initiative aimed at promoting electric vehicles (EVs) and their charging infrastructure, has seen significant progress. As of July 6, 350 charging stations for EVs are operational across various Indian cities. These charging stations can be found in cities such as Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Ranchi, and Agra. The number of charging stations in Chandigarh is 48, Delhi has 94, Ranchi has 29, Jaipur has 49, and Agra has 10. The companies involved in setting up these charging stations include various manufacturers and service providers, supported by government initiatives.
The FAME India Scheme, which was first implemented in April 2015, has so far incentivized a total of 3.61 lakh electric vehicles. The total budgetary support for the scheme, combined across both Phase-I and II, is approximately Rs 10,600 crore. The budgetary support for Phase-II of the scheme, specifically, is intended to incentivize the adoption of electric vehicles in public and shared transportation.
In its Phase-II, the FAME India Scheme is expected to provide significant financial support for the electrification of public and shared transportation. The scheme is designed to offer subsidies to promote the use of electric vehicles in public and shared transportation. The total budgetary support for Phase-II of the scheme is Rs 10,000 crore. The scheme primarily focuses on the electrification of public and shared transportation.
The implementation period for Phase-II of the FAME India Scheme is from April 1, 2019, to an unspecified date in the future, for a total duration of 5 years. The Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Krishan Pal Gurjar, provided this information to Parliament on Tuesday. The total incentive provided to these electric vehicles under the FAME India Scheme is about Rs 600 crore.
The information provided is up to July 9, 2021. The FAME India Scheme, in its Phase-II, is anticipated to offer substantial subsidies to encourage the use of electric vehicles in public and shared transportation. The scheme aims to provide subsidies to support electrification in public and shared transportation.
