University Launches New Institute, Packed Calendar of Events and Initiatives
Our university is buzzing with new initiatives and events. Prof. Fahim Mohammadi has taken the helm of the new Institute for Design Methodology and Representation, while students and staff can look forward to a packed google calendar of information sessions, celebrations, and conferences.
Kicking off the academic year, Prof. Mohammadi has begun teaching the basics course in design methodology and representation. Meanwhile, the university is hosting an information event on the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship on 23 September, offering support for research stays abroad lasting between six to twenty-four months.
The Day of Democracy will be celebrated on 15 September, transforming the University Square into a hub of activities from 5 PM till midnight. For those interested in digital events, 'Impulse Snacks' will feature a short lecture by Prof. Simone Kauffeld on meetings on 16 September, with no registration required.
In response to emergencies, a Parent-Child Office has been established in the PVZ (Room 422) and can be booked via the Outlook calendar. The INTERXR Project will conclude with a final conference on 25 and 26 September, exploring the theme 'Immersive worlds, real education?' and welcoming registrations until 21 September. Additionally, an online information event on the Toolbox for Conversation Leadership will take place on 17 September.
Our university is proud to support the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geophysics with the HiPerCoRig, enabling underwater drilling at depths up to 200 meters. This week, the first Summer School on 'Automotive Circular Economy' was held at the joint campus in Wolfsburg. Looking ahead, the COIN project, coordinated by the Leichtweiß Institute for Water Resources, has received €4 million from the Horizon Europe program and will commence on 1 November. However, details on the nine leading organizations collaborating within the COIN project for the development of future wave power plants remain unclear.
With a new institute, various events, and significant projects underway, our university continues to foster growth and innovation. From supporting research fellowships to exploring immersive education and sustainable technologies, the upcoming months promise a wealth of opportunities for students and staff alike.
