In a significant move for the UK's technology industry, Nvidia, along with tech giants like Microsoft, Google, CoreWeave, Nscale, and OpenAI, are set to invest billions of dollars in the country. This investment forms part of a $42 billion technology deal between the US and the UK.

Nvidia's focus in the UK is on physical and agent-based AI, robotics, and biosciences. The company is collaborating with various AI specialists, including Basecamp Research and Peptone, to drive engagements in AI-assisted drug development, digital twins, and the analysis of complex proteins.

One of the key projects Nvidia is involved in is the operation of the supercomputer Isambard-AI, equipped with Nvidia chips, since July. This powerful machine supports the UK-LLM project, which develops AI for English and Welsh languages to improve public services.

Nvidia's support in robotics includes the use of humanoid robots and autonomous systems operated by NVIDIA Jetson and Isaac platforms. The company is working with UK companies Humanoid and Extend Robotics to deploy physical AI in manufacturing, logistics, and research.

The Nvidia CEO, Jensen Huang, is currently visiting the UK, underscoring the company's commitment to the country. Nvidia's investments are also contributing to the UK's infrastructure, with plans to build data centers.

Another notable development is the creation of models like Nightingale AI, which uses British and US health data for diagnostics and personalised care in healthcare.

The British government's strategy is to establish a "sovereign AI" with AI systems developed and controlled within the country. Nvidia supports this strategy, aligning its investments with the government's vision for AI technology in the UK.

The US President Donald Trump's visit to the UK is reportedly the reason for these significant investment pledges. The UK's tech sector is set to benefit greatly from these investments, further cementing its position as a global leader in AI technology.
