Unveiling Agatha All Along: Solitary Witches Forced into Cooperative Coven Circles

Gossiping About the Witches' Revenge

Gird your loins, folks, 'cause the witches are back, and they're not holding back! Empire Magazine has given us a sneak peek at the upcoming spinoff of WandaVision, now known as Agatha All Along. You remember Agatha Harkness, the sociopathic sorceress played by Kathryn Hahn who crushed our spirits with her cackling and malevolence. Well, she's back, and she's cooking up some serious witchcraft with the help of a couple of new coven members.

Now, every coven needs a diverse group of witches, right? So, Agatha All Along is set to introduce an eclectic mix, including Patti LuPone's Lilia, a divination witch; Debra Jo Rupp's Sharon, a mysterious element; Sasheer Zamata's Jennifer, a magical maelstrom; and Ali Ahn's Alice, a mysterious presence shrouded in enchantment. According to creator Jac Schaeffer, "What they all have in common is that they're covenless witches. Witches, after all, are defined by deception, treachery, villainy, and selfishness. What happens when you have a group of witches who embody those traits and you need them to work together?" Well, according to the sneak peek, they all look pretty witchy in their unique wardrobes, which range from gothic to hippie and coastal grandmother.

Now, you might be thinking, "Oh, those stock characters, nothing new." But Schaeffer promises that the series will subvert our expectations: "[Where] WandaVision played with the form of classic TV sitcoms, [here] we do a lot of playing with the assumptions about witches. Like, what are the shorthand visuals for witches? We didn't want a one-dimensional nasty witch. We will have moments where we see Agatha's true heart."

So, has Agatha found her tribe? It sounds like a redemption arc could be on the horizon when her series premieres this September 18 on Disney+.

P.S. – Rumor has it that Ryde Vidal, Death, and the Green Witch (played by Aubrey Plaza) might also be part of Agatha's coven, but we can't confirm that just yet. Fingers crossed!

The new spinoff series, 'Agatha All Along', promises to demonstrate a diverse group of witches, including Patti LuPone's Lilia, Debra Jo Rupp's Sharon, Sasheer Zamata's Jennifer, and Ali Ahn's Alice.
