In a bid to regain premium dominance in the market, Samsung has unveiled its latest foldable device, the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The new offering was revealed at Galaxy Unpacked on July 9, 2025, and is set to challenge competitors like Apple, Huawei, and Honor in the premium and foldable device markets.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 boasts large displays, with a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display featuring a new 21:9 aspect ratio. This improvement in usability is complemented by an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display when unfolded, which is 11% larger than the previous generation. Both displays support up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness, ensuring visibility even in sunlight.
The device is equipped with flagship cameras, including a 200 MP main camera, a significant upgrade from previous models. It also features a 10 MP external selfie camera and a 10 MP internal selfie camera.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers enhanced performance and efficiency. It runs on Android 16 with One UI 8 out of the box, making it one of the first devices to ship with this version.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is designed to be more compact and lighter, improving overall usability. It is 8.9 mm thick when folded and 4.2 mm when unfolded, marking a significant reduction in thickness compared to previous models. Weighing 215 grams, it is lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The device features a 4,400 mAh battery, similar to the Z Fold 6, with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 also incorporates AI features, and pre-orders opened immediately, with shipments starting on July 25. The base model in the U.S. starts at $1,999 (12 GB/256 GB), with higher-end models, including a 12 GB/512 GB variant for $2,199 and a 16 GB/1 TB variant for $2,419, also available.
To ensure durability, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 features an enhanced armored aluminum frame and a glass ceramic back panel. It also incorporates ultra-thin engineering and the new Armor FlexHinge, as well as reinforced materials to reduce visible crease and boost durability.
