Upcoming smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Slim, reportedly set for release on January 22, 2025, according to recent leaks

The tech world is abuzz with rumours about two anticipated smartphones - Samsung's Galaxy S25 Slim/Thin and Apple's iPhone 17 Air/Slim.

According to recent leaks, Samsung is rumoured to be working on a Slim device, potentially named the Galaxy S25 Slim or Thin. Contrary to earlier speculation, the Galaxy S25 Slim is expected to launch with the rest of the S25 series, and not as a replacement for the Plus model or with a higher price point.

The key rumoured specs for the Galaxy S25 Slim, also known as the Galaxy S25 FE (Fan Edition), include a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2340x1080 and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is expected to feature Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 FE Slim/Thin is expected to be powered by the Exynos 2400, although some sources suggest it might still use the 2400e variant. The device is rumoured to come with 8GB RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB.

In terms of photography, the Galaxy S25 FE Slim/Thin is said to feature a triple rear setup with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The selfie camera is expected to be a 12MP unit.

The battery capacity is rumoured to be around 4,900 mAh, with support for 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The device is also expected to be slimmer and lighter, with an aluminum frame and glass back, and IP68 dust and water resistance.

On the software front, the Galaxy S25 FE Slim/Thin is expected to ship with Android 16 and Samsung One UI 8.

Meanwhile, Apple is rumoured to be developing a thinner smartphone, potentially named the iPhone 17 Air or Slim. The iPhone 17 Air/Slim is expected to have an ultra-slim design, measuring approximately 6mm in thickness, and is predicted to feature the A19 chip, 8GB RAM, and a single 48MP rear camera.

Conflicting rumours suggest that the iPhone 17 Air/Slim may replace the Plus model or maintain a higher price point. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air/Slim may include a ProMotion display, 5G connectivity, and a 24MP front camera.

The stage is set for Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event, where the S25 series is rumoured to be launched on January 22nd. The tech world eagerly awaits the official unveiling of these devices to see how closely the rumours align with reality.

The tech world's excitement revolves around the anticipated smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim/Thin and the iPhone 17 Air/Slim, which also include other gadgets. Rumors suggest Samsung's Galaxy S25 FE Slim/Thin features advanced technology, like a 120Hz refresh rate display, Exynos 2400 processor, triple rear cameras, and IP68 dust and water resistance.

On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Air/Slim, powered by the A19 chip and featuring a single 48MP camera, is rumored to have an ultra-slim design and possibly replace the Plus model or maintain a higher price point with additions like ProMotion display, 5G connectivity, and a 24MP front camera. Both smartphones demonstrate the latest advances in technology and serve as examples of the future of mobile devices.
