Vandervell Unveils Electric Hot Hatch Thin Wall Special, Inspired by Lancia Delta Integrale
Vandervell, a new automotive company, has unveiled its first electric hot hatch, the Vandervell Thin Wall Special. This innovative model takes inspiration from rally legends like the Lancia Delta Integrale and features bespoke carbon-fibre bodywork. Built by ByKOLLES Racing Team and operated under the legendary Vanwall name, this electric hot hatch is based on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
The Vandervell Thin Wall Special is a modernised homage to rally legends, with its design heavily influenced by the Lancia Delta Integrale. It's built atop Hyundai's E-GMP platform, sharing its architecture and peak output with the Ioniq 5 N. However, Vandervell has managed to cut over 230kg from the standard Ioniq 5 N's weight, bringing it under 2000kg, thanks to its carbon-fibre shell. This significant weight loss, coupled with all-wheel drive, is expected to make the Vandervell Thin Wall Special quicker and sharper than its counterpart.
The company has ambitious plans for the future. Apart from the Thin Wall Special, they are also working on a 1000kW/1000kg road-legal hypercar and even a proposed hyperbike. Vandervell aims to produce three versions of its electric hot hatch: the entry-level H-GT, the mid-tier Thin Wall Special, and the flagship N-GT. Production is capped at 500 units, with a starting price of €128,000.
The Vandervell Thin Wall Special, with its rally-inspired design, serious rally-car intent, and impressive weight reduction, is set to be a formidable electric hot hatch. Vandervell's future plans, including a hypercar and hyperbike, indicate an exciting direction for the company. With Vanwall acting as a road-going extension of ByKOLLES' WEC efforts, the Vandervell Thin Wall Special promises to deliver an exhilarating driving experience.
