Vietnam Debuts National Blockchain Initiative, NDAChain, Aiming to Boost Digital Data Infrastructure by 2026

In a significant step towards digital transformation, Vietnam has launched NDAChain, a state-of-the-art blockchain platform designed to revolutionize the nation's digital infrastructure. This Layer 1 permissioned blockchain, operated by a consortium of 49 public-private validator nodes, boasts a robust design that ensures both security and controlled access.

NDAChain operates on a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus mechanism, with each validator node approved to confirm transactions. This is complemented by Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP) that verify data without revealing sensitive information, enhancing privacy and security. The platform is capable of processing up to 3,600 transactions per second, making it suitable for critical national digital infrastructure applications.

Key operational features of NDAChain include a distributed ledger that maintains transparent, immutable transaction records, smart contracts that automate processes, and integration with Vietnam’s VNeID and other national identity systems for seamless identity verification.

NDAChain has several applications, including a decentralized identity solution called NDA DID, which enables citizens to verify identities quickly and securely during transactions, service access, and digital contract signing. The NDAKey mobile app allows for instant identity verification, helping to prevent impersonation and fraud.

Another application is NDATrace, a product-tracking solution that ensures transparency and authenticity across supply chains. This application helps reduce fraud and enhances trust in logistics and commerce, aligning with international standards such as those used in the EU.

NDAChain serves as a decentralized trust layer integrated with multiple sectors, including e-government, finance, healthcare, logistics, and education. It aims to simplify data sharing and authentication across these domains, addressing challenges in cybersecurity, scalability, and international data integration. The platform facilitates a unified and transparent digital ecosystem under regulatory oversight, leveraging state-private partnerships to accelerate Vietnam’s digital transformation.

With its open architecture and pro-integration policies, NDAChain is a launchpad for startups and tech firms. The platform's gradual expansion to local governments and universities is planned by 2026, with the goal of fully integrating into the National Data Center by 2025.

In the words of Mr. Nguyen Huy, Head of Technology at the National Data Association, NDAChain acts as a protective layer for the nation's live data, serving as a trusted, transparent, and secure verification layer for Vietnam's National Data Center.
