Vietnam Urges Nvidia to Deepen AI Involvement, Aims to Become Global AI Hub
Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has urged Nvda to deepen its involvement in the country's artificial intelligence (AI) sector. The call follows a December 2021 cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese government and Nvda to establish an AI research and development center and an AI data center.
Dung has invited Nvda to act as a strategic investor, aiding in the construction of sovereign AI systems. The tech giant is expected to share its expertise in nationwide AI applications and collaborate on drafting Vietnam's AI law. The Vietnam AI Research and Development Center (VRDC) and the AI Data Center aim to advance research, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI technologies.
The National Innovation Center (NIC) in Vietnam, in collaboration with NVIDIA, has already integrated innovations like GreenMind into NVIDIA's platforms, such as NVIDIA NIM. Dung expressed his desire to strengthen ties between Nvda and the NIC to foster an AI startup ecosystem. He suggested expanding Nvda's AI Academy scholarship program and AI Day events to more cities in Vietnam. Furthermore, Dung emphasized the need for stronger research and training ties between Nvda and local universities and startups.
Dung's call underscores Vietnam's commitment to becoming a global AI hub. With Nvda's expertise and investment, the country aims to advance its AI capabilities, foster innovation, and develop a robust AI ecosystem.
