Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum [ETH], has let the cat out of the bag and shared his objectives for 2025. Guess what's at the top of his list? You guessed it—Ethereum's L1 roadmap!

And it's not just about decentralization and resilience (security); Buterin's goals align with the newly structured Ethereum Foundation leadership's "twin" targets. That's right, folks—privacy and open-source technology are also front and center on his agenda. In fact, he's been chattering on about privacy for front-end user systems such as apps and wallets.

Buterin's interests don't stop at Ethereum. He's also keen on governance, open-source funding, and bio defense.

Ethereum's Upgrades—Impact on ETH

Let's not forget that the long-anticipated Ethereum Pectra upgrade is set to hit the Mainnet on May 7. The upgrade will enhance staking and wallet features, among other things, but has been a bit of a drag due to a slew of bugs.

After Pectra, we've got Fusaka on deck, aimed at scaling like a boss to allow Ethereum and L2 apps to handle more data.

There's also a push for L2 interoperability to sort out the liquidity fragmentation issue in Ethereum. Together, these updates aim to make Ethereum a force to be reckoned with in the L1 space.

Are speculators feeling all bullish and giddy about these updates? You bet your butt they are, going by the reading on the Ethereum fear and green index (FGI) on May 1.

On the 12-hour price chart, ETH looked like it was on a bull run. Since April 22, the Super Trend indicator flashed a "buy" signal, and the altcoin has surged by 20% from $1.5k to $1.8k since then.

The $1.9k-level could be the next stop, but the altcoin won't make it there unscathed unless the Super Trend flashes a "sell" signal before hitting the target.
