Volvo Offers 18 Months Free Identity Protection After Data Breach
Volvo Group has announced that it is offering 18 months of free identity protection and credit monitoring services to individuals affected by a recent data breach. The breach was caused by a ransomware attack on the company's third-party IT provider, Miljödata, and exposed the personal data of Volvo North America's employees.
The ransomware group DataCarry has taken responsibility for the attack and published allegedly stolen data on its Tor leak site. The breach, which occurred in August 2025, impacted not only Volvo North America but also at least 25 other companies, including Scandinavian airline SAS, Boliden, and around 200 Swedish municipalities. The leaked data belongs to 870,000 accounts and includes sensitive information such as email addresses, names, physical addresses, phone numbers, government IDs, dates of birth, and gender.
Volvo Group has stated that it is working diligently to investigate the incident and mitigate its impact. The company has also assured affected individuals that it is committed to supporting them through this challenging time.
